Strategic Partners for Winning Results

At P1 Strategies, our expert team doesn’t just understand the business of motorsports—we help shape its future.

Motorsports...It's In Our Blood

“I fell in love with the business of racing before I could tie my own shoes,” says John Robbins, Founder & Chief Strategist of P1 Strategies. “My uncle, Rex Robbins, founded the American Speed Association (ASA) and was part of the ownership team at Anderson Speedway (IN). As a child, my dad would carry me up to the tower. Growing up around the track, I learned that motorsports is more than a sport—it’s a business driven by strategy, relationships and a relentless commitment to every little detail.”

“P1 Strategies was built on this foundation. The business of motorsports is complex, made even more challenging by ultra-competitive personalities and politics that can make Washington, D.C. look like high school government. That’s why our clients don’t just gain access to my expertise—they gain the collective power of a hand-picked team of elite professionals, fully vetted to address their biggest opportunities.”

We work with businesses that already have a strong foothold in the industry, those with a deep desire to get involved or those needing a reset after a challenging experience.

We collaborate with clients across the motorsports industry—including brands investing in motorsports, race teams, tracks, sanctioning bodies, industry suppliers and entrepreneurs—to unlock untapped potential. Our unique mix of motorsports intel and expertise from other industries gives us an unparalleled edge against the status quo.

Every engagement is unique. We don’t do cookie-cutter solutions because every client is working to leverage different opportunities. Instead, we craft custom strategies designed to deliver the results, growth and revenue you’re after.

John Robbins,
Trusted Motorsports insider

John Robbins wasn’t just born into motorsports—he’s been driving its evolution. With deep family roots, a degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and another from the racing school of hard knocks, John has combined strong instincts with strategic expertise to push the sport forward. More than an entrepreneur, he’s a dedicated business leader and connector, turning obstacles into opportunities, building deep industry relationships and bridging gaps others often overlook.

For over two decades, John has applied his unique skill set to build startups, advise CEOs and transform the short track racing industry. His ability to unite leaders around shared goals, challenge conventional thinking and establish bold standards has redefined norms inside and outside the motorsports world.

John’s approach strikes a critical balance: old school enough to respect what’s worked before and future-focused enough to identify the biggest trends. He’s enough of an insider to grasp the sport’s nuances and enough of an outsider to translate corporate jargon into actionable insights. Baptized in the fire of a rigorous academic program (where he brought short track racing into the classroom, turning his peers into evangelists and his professors into potential investors) and raised in the blue-collar, no-nonsense town of Anderson, Indiana (he still prefers a dive bar to an ivory tower), John blends tradition with innovation in everything he does.

John is also an executive coach, industry roundtable facilitator and keynote speaker. He has been featured in SpeedSport, Hot Rod and his hometown paper The Herald Bulletin.

Here are a few of John’s recent highlights:

  • Motorsports Creation: Helped launch The 500 Sprint Car Tour in 2022, expanding asphalt sprint car racing and reaching new audiences.
  • Motorsports Growth: Revitalized the NSTA Top Speed Modified Tour in 2017, rescuing a struggling brand and sanctioning a race at Bristol Motor Speedway (TN).
  • Motorsports Heritage: Partnered with NASCAR to develop and execute the ASA Reunion in 2022 and 2023, celebrating the legacy of this iconic racing brand by reuniting legendary drivers with fans and breathing new life into the ASA Racing name.
  • Thought Leadership: Host of The Inside Racing Podcast, aired 2016-2017, the first and only podcast dedicated to the business of racing.
  • Economic & Community Impact: Former Orr Fellow, Executive Director of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy (HCLA) and board member of the Hamilton County Economic Development Corporation.
